Around here, everything is coming up writers. I’m running our Creative Mastery Class, and nearing the end of 25 …daily… writing… sessions…! with very engaged writers. (I, myself will finish a first full draft of a novel by the end of July!)
And I’m partnering with 8 professional, fabulous, creative, award-winning, bestselling authors, to create the spirit and inspiration of the Writers’ Conferences we’re all missing this summer (virtual, of course.)
I feel like Ethyl Merman, swollen with pride and excitement. I was missing that part of my summer – no conferences, no new writer friends – and I had this idea to create our own. And now, just a couple months later, We’re inviting writers into the 100 Writing Days of Summer.
I had a dream, a dream about you, baby. It’s gonna come true, baby.
It’s been a mad rush to put it together, but the 100 Writing Days of Summer is something to brag about! We’ve recreated the congeniality and the collegiality of a writer’s conference and rolled in the productivity and focus of a writing retreat, together in one summer-long event. Served up on email and Zoom!
You’ll be swell! You’ll be great!
Gonna have the whole world on the plate!
Starting here, starting now,
honey, everything’s coming up writers!
In 100 Writing Days of Summer, we write together for 10 2-hour sessions. We talk and inspire one another. We get daily tips and insights from guest panel authors, via email! Who knows? Maybe we’ll even share a rubber chicken dinner via Zoom. Big things happen and change when writers get together to write, and help one another craft their stories, unknot their problems and make decisions.
So, borrowing again from Ethyl Merman –
Clear the decks! Clear the tracks!
You’ve got nothing to do but relax.
Blow a kiss. Take a bow.
Honey, everything’s coming up writers!
Well, you have to do a little bit more than relax… please join us. Read more about it here. You can do something this summer that will put your book or WIP back on track, and by Labor Day you’ll have…
- Lots of new insights about the craft of writing
- Many new writing friends
- Stacks of pages, adding up
- Creativity and creative process help, from me as you write (or get blocked)
- Little writing “parties” to look forward to when life outside your house starts getting complicated and/or demanding in the post-COVID world
- You’ve got your “you” time, in the books. Protected. Scheduled. On Zoom, with us.
Join the 100 Writing Days of Summer. You’ll be glad you did. If you have a question or concern, hit reply and just ask me. If you *wish* you could, let me see how I can help you get onto that stage. Curtain’s up, lights are bright. You’ve got nothing to hit but the heights!
Even now, as I’m writing my weekly blog to you, a writer, I have a dream, baby. A dream about you, baby. Why? Bec we are writers. We’re the weirdoes and witnesses the world needs. The world is waiting for our work. Our thoughts and words can shift everything. Consider this song Everything’s Coming Up Roses, written by Stephen Sondheim, and brought to life by Ethyl Merman in Gypsy. It epitomizes hope and daring. It rallies people to see a bigger, better, brighter possibility. It is one writer’s gift to humanity (among many, when we’re talking Sondheim.)
We are the Writers. The World Needs Us and We need Each Other!
We are everything and nothing. We are weird and normal. We are busy and not doing what we wish we were doing. We bring life to words, feelings, ideas, emotions, hopes. I’m forever grateful for you.
I hope to see you in the 100 Writing Days of Summer. It’s gonna be…
…roses and daffodils!
Everything’s coming up sunshine and Santa Claus! Everything’s gonna be bright lights and lollipops! Everything’s coming up writers for me and for you!
