It’s all over. Well, not quite. Happy Holidays to you and yours. We celebrated Hanukah, Advent, Christmas and today is Boxing Day. But, we don’t have servants, so there was no Boxing Day celebration around here.
Still we ate leftovers, went out for a drive, tried to see the rising of Jupiter and Saturn in the Southwestern sky. No joy. But we saw a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean, nonetheless. We waited to see stars, and all we could see were beautiful clouds.
And now, we await New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
We are in Betwixtmas – that time between holidays
Betwixtmas is when no one works, but celebrations are slim. People think about quitting their daily chocolate habit, but no one does. Lots of writers think they’ll write – and some do.
But Betwixtmas is an important time for all of us… to just quit. Quit all the expectations, work and family, and just be. Betwixtmas is before your New Year’s resolutions and after your holiday preparation frenzy.
You don’t owe anyone anything.
Do as you please – which may involve writing, or not. Follow your nose, or put your nose in a book. This time is for you. This is when you get to remember who you are and what you want in your world. But don’t make that into a calling or a goal. It’s Betwixtmas – let it come to you.
I hope you felt safe, loved, awed by the bounty of the universe and well-fed this holiday season. And now,
Happy Betwixtmas one and all!
